Description
Did you know changes during adolescence may make teens especially vulnerable to depression and anxiety. An individual is most likely to experience their first symptoms of depression before the age of 20 and for anxiety around 15. Preventing these initial episodes can help reduce future episodes and giving your children the tools to help them deal with the overwhelm of emotions and set backs that are a normal part of growing up can make all the difference.
Starting with the basics of movement, understanding why good nutrition is important, building a tool box to help deal with overwhelm, anxiety and negative emotions when they arise and the importance of spending time in nature are all simple ways your child can start to build the tools to be prepared to deal with life’s challenges.
We are running a Wellness Workshop for 12 to 16 year olds to learn these skills, be inspired and know there are things they can do to feel in control, realise they are not alone and understand when and how to ask for help if they are struggling.
A day in nature, led by Jess (Personal Training, Pilates and Nutrition expert) and Lucy (Intuitive Energy & Meditation Coach) your teen will be guided through a series of activities including Mindfulness, Meditation, Exercise, Pilates, Nutrition, Crystals, Breathing Exercises, Energy work and a wonderful Sound Bath to finish the day leaving them refreshed inspired and ready to enjoy the Easter Holidays.
This is just the beginning, an introduction of whats to come. Your teen will be the first to experience this unique day, in the beautiful surrounds at Buckland Park Lake with a supportive, compassionate, experienced team to inspire, educate and create a fun joyful day in Nature.
Itinerary
10:00 – 10:15 Welcome and Introduction
With a gentle icebreaker to get them mingling
10:15 – 11:15 Fitness Fundamentals
An introduction to basic fitness concepts: warm-ups, cool-downs, stretching and proper form. We will design a simple exercise session to take away for using at home anytime (no equipment necessary). Most of all this we will be having fun and using team work.
11:15 – 12:30 Healthy Eating Habits
An introduction to what a teenage body needs in terms of balanced nutrition and hydration; the importance of whole foods, fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats.
We will look at meal planning and preparation, so your teen can start to be involved in the process at home with strategies for healthy snacking (including some taste testing!). They will leave with a good idea of how to keep their blood sugar levels steady, feel fuller for longer and know what is good to grab and go.
We will make a simple fermented recipe as starting from the inside out and the importance of a good microbiome will be a key focus.
12:30 – 13:00 Lake walk. The Power of Nature
13:00 – 14:00 Break and Lunch Time. Please bring your own packed lunch.
14:00 – 16:00 An afternoon with Energy Healer and Reiki Master Practitioner Lucy
Lucy will introduce your teen to some gentle self-awareness and emotional regulation techniques for helping them feel more grounded and confident when life feels overwhelming. For example:
- Practice 1: Simple grounding technique (e.g. breathwork, tapping, or feet-on-the-earth visualisation)
- Practice 2: Energy hygiene – how to clear other people’s energy and come back to your centre (e.g. brushing off the aura or a light visualization)
- Practice 3: Journaling and creative expression with prompts such as “What makes me feel like me?” / “When do I feel safe?” / “Who or what lights me up?”
The session will finish with a closing circle and card pull, where your teen can share one word about how they feel or something they’re taking away.
Call Jess on 07870 207779 if you have any questions, We are intending this to be for a small group of 8 (12-16 year olds), so please book early if you would like a place for your teen.
